Boots That Will Hold Up When You Need Them Most

No one likes to have heavy feet when hiking up a hill or taking a long hike. The best lightweight hiking boots don't make your feet fill like it's carrying weights.

When hiking you want a shoe that helps you not hinder your experience. Look for a hiking boot that is made of durable material that is not too heavy and has good support.

The trick to having light shoes with good support is to look for the support you need, but avoid getting the very heavy duty boots you may only need on the roughest of roughest off path mountain hikes.

What To Look For In A Lightweight Hiking boot?

Ankle Supports: The best lightweight hiking boot will be a good choice for most hiking experiences as long as you do not need a lot extra ankle support. Feet issues such as needing extra arch support or extra padding can be accommodated without adding on mass to the shoes.

This does not mean that there will be no ankle support to any light weight boot but the higher the boot the more weight you will probably get, if you need a lot of support the material used will be thicker and heavier. Hiking boots will cover the ankle and have some support, if ankle does not have any support then it is then referred to as a hiking shoe.

Flexible Material: When looking for a hiking boot that will not weight you down, seek out shoes that are easy to flex you feet with. If you can not move your feet easily the material will probably be so stiff it will load your feet down.

Shoe Widths Matters: If the boot is too loose or to tight walking is going to become more labored, no matter if the shoe is lighter weight or not. Always check the width of the shoes, if you have narrow or wide feet make sure to go with a brand that can accommodate your needs. Asolo and Vasque brands tend to be good brands to look at that offer varied widths.

Is The Hiking Shoe A Gook Lightwieght Replacement for Hiking Boots?

Hiking Shoe VS. Hiking Boot

Hiking shoes can be very comfy and can be a so light weight that many just want to use them for all hikes. While they are great they just can not offer the support needed for all types of Hiking. If your just taking a long walk or walking down a given path, okay then take the lighter hiking shoe. But if your going down a unmarked path or up rugged territory, its best to keep with the hiking boot.

But don't worry, with new technology boots are not as heavy as they once where. While they may never be light as a tennis shoe, watch out for boots that won't weigh you down either.
